DERMAPLANING
Dermaplaning is a treatment that utilizes a sterile scalpel and glide to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair from your face. This process reveals fresh, brighter, smoother skin & allows for better absorption of skincare products and application of makeup.
Dermaplaning is a safe, non-invasive procedure that involves the gentle scraping of the top layer of your skin. It does not hurt, and most clients describe the sensation as similar to the feel of a credit card being swiped against the skin.
Yes, dermaplaning can help reduce the appearance of acne scars by removing the rough top layer of your skin to unveil fresh, new skin underneath.
Dermaplaning is usually performed every three to four weeks. The procedure removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so allowing the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle between treatments will provide the best results.
After a dermaplaning treatment, it's best to let your skin breathe and absorb the post-care products for the rest of the day. However, makeup can be applied the next day.
Post-dermaplaning, your skin may be slightly pink, but this usually subsides within a few hours. You can expect to see an instant improvement in skin texture and tone, while the long-term effects include increased cell turnover, fewer wrinkles and dark spots, reduction of acne scarring, and the removal of fine facial hair.
While dermaplaning is safe for most people, those with highly sensitive skin, active acne breakout, or an abundance of capillaries near the skin's surface should consult with their aesthetician before proceeding with the treatment. It's also not recommended for those with rosacea or keratosis pilaris.
