B12 Intramuscular Injection
Vitamin B12, or cyanocobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin found naturally in some foods and added to others that plays a vital role in nervous system health, red blood cell production, and carbohydrate, fat, and protein processing.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can produce symptoms such as fatigue and poor concentration.
Benefits of vitamin B12 injections include increased energy levels, improved mood, heightened cognitive function and concentration, and improved metabolism.
Vitamin B12 injections are generally considered safe and well-tolerated when administered properly by a qualified healthcare professional. However, like any medication or supplement, they can cause side effects. Possible mild side effects may include:
- Pain or swelling at the injection site, headache, nausea, and dizziness.
Less common but potentially serious side effects may include:
- Allergic reaction, rapid heartbeat, vision changes, and numbness or tingling in the hands or feet. As with any medication, you should seek medical attention if you experience worrisome symptoms.
Based on tolerance and benefit, vitamin B12 injections may be received every 2-4 weeks or as needed.
